Moegie was elected to Loughrea Town Council in June 2004 and co-opted onto Galway Co. Council in December 2007 to replace Ciaran Cannon who was nominated to Seanad Eireann in August 2007.

Moegie's Priorities Are:
Provide better recreational and sporting facilities for the increasing youth population in the town
Address the traffic problems for pedestrians and motorists in the town centre
Seek to increase the number of public car parks in Loughrea
Support the development and enhancement of the open public space at Corry's field
Upgrade the equipment at existing playgrounds and provide more playgrounds on the rapidly expanding fringes of the town
Seek to decentralise County Council and other government services to a new office in Loughrea, where people can obtain motor tax, submit planning applications and avail of other government services.
Address the continuing litter problem in the town.
